New Fibres
Leonardo - transparent fibre for added strength
Leonardo is an extremely flat viscose fibre with a thickness to width ratio of 1:40. At the same time the fibre exhibits a very even fibre surface with completely parallel sides and a highly regular cross section.
Leonardo can be produced up to three times thinner than standard flat viscose fibres. This, together with even fibre surface and the resulting modified light refraction properties deliver a uniquely transparent fibre from which a range of different end applications such as security and filter papers can benefit.
While it is generally possible to control a paper's characteristics such as bulk, tear length, tear resistance or porosity by adding viscose fibres, tests have shown that viscose fibres with a flat cross section improve the physical properties even more. This results from the better inter-fibre contact and the better fibre bonding of flat fibres in contrast to regular round fibres. Furthermore, the paper's strength benefits from the use of thin fibres - another advantage offered by Leonardo. Finally, an anionic modification of the viscose fibres can increase the positive influence of adding fibre to the paper.
Ideally suited for paper & wet laid applications: Verdi, Bramante, Dante & Bellini
With a strong focus on paper and wet laid, four new viscose speciality fibres with new functional properties which are ideally suited for these applications have been developed and launched.
These new fibres, christened Verdi, Bramante, Dante and Bellini, show ultra-high absorbency levels, self-bonding behaviour, high dispersability in water, a gel-effect and self-extinguishing properties.
The potential areas of application of our new fibre developments are many and diverse - from medical or hygiene products through textiles to filters or speciality papers. Coagulating wound dressings, absorbent blotting papers or extra tear-resistant banknotes as well as tea bags are just a few of numerous products which derive their typical properties from our viscose specialities.
Viscose fibres are made of 100% natural cellulose, the same material used by the paper industry in their products. Therefore viscose fibres can be easily incorporated in the papermaking process.

Deep-Dye - the Fibre for more or less Colour
Deep-Dye is a chemically modified viscose speciality fibre with a dye absorption capacity up to 40 times higher than standard viscose products. Originally developed to optimise the dyeing process of textiles made out of viscose and PET, we discovered a wide range of possible applications - in all areas which require fast and effective dye absorption. These highly specialised viscose fibres are processed to papers and nonwovens which can easily be designed to any form required - and therefore can be used in filtration cartridges for the decolouration of the waste water.

Poseidon - the Ion Exchange Fibre
Poseidon - named after the Greek god of all flowing waters - is a viscose speciality fibre with ion exchange properties. The fibres are loaded with anionic or cationic substances and release them in a controlled way. The advantages of Poseidon are clear: it is easily possible to incorporate Poseidon fibres in papers or nonwovens (in contrast to loose ion exchange granulates) and design filtration cartridges of any shape. An additional benefit is the high transfer rate. As a result of the use of very small ion exchanging particles, the high number of fine and short viscose fibres in the paper and finally the accessibility of the viscose fibre itself a very large active surface and therefore excellent transfer quotas are achieved. Poseidon can be used for water softening, e.g. in tea bags or coffee pads or for the filtration of heavy metals for recycling purposes. Poseidon can remove destructive acids from all kinds of liquids and it can be used to generate an antimicrobial effect in a product by charging the fibres with metal ions such as silver or copper.

Light as a feather: Microfine
Microfine is our finest viscose fibre. It gives fabrics a soft, flowing drape and brilliant lustre and creates outstanding wearer comfort. Microfine feels cool and light on your skin and is the ideal choice for high quality underwear or outerwear. As all our fibres, Microfine is completely natural: made from 100% eucalyptus pulp from managed plantations it is a sound choice not only for your own well-being but for the environment, too. Microfine is also suited for the use in all kinds of speciality papers where it can help to enhance the properties of your product.
